Arts & Entertainment

Since 1935, The Community Concert Association has brought quality entertainment to the area from the famous Arthur Fiedler's Boston Pops Orchestra, to the famous Ruth Page Chicago Opera Ballet. Other Cultural amenities include a dance theater and art galleries which provide the area with work produced by local artisans, and the Crab Orchard Museum and Pioneer park in nearby Tazewell, VA.

High on the entertainment list is the highly acclaimed Science Center of West Virginia. This intriguing facility, located in the Bluefield Arts and Science Center, features science exhibits and a permanent exhibit of Bluefield native John F. Nash, Jr., a Nobel Prize winner in Economics. The Bluefield Arts and Science Center also hosts local holiday musicals, classic works and contemporary dramas and comedies through the popular Summit Players Theater.

The Bluefields have long had a love affair with sports and other outdoor activities. The Bluefield Orioles, a farm club of the Baltimore Orioles, attract thousands and plans are underway to construct a modern soccer complex. Pipestem State Park, located minutes from Bluefield, attracts visitors from far and wide to enjoy activities from gourmet restaurants to golf and horseback riding.
